Board Member Volunteer of the Year
Why volunteer? “It’s just the right, as well as the smart thing to do,” Tom Kivlahan reminded the audience at the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner as he accepted the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Tom Kivlahan, partner at Drost, Kivlahan & McMahon, Ltd., is an Arlington Heights native who grew up knowing the importance of giving back to the community. “I saw my parents and their friends always involved in community events, it became a way of life for my family. I am fortunate to carry on the tradition,” said Kivlahan. his greatest joy is when he can participate in events that not only involve children, but when he can include his own son, Chris, in the activities. “My two favorite events are the Haunted Office at Drost, Kivlahan & McMahon and the Movie with the Mayor. Kids just naturally know how to have fun, and in my mind, these are two great occasions for families to be together and have a great time!”
“I have known many of the organizers and directors of the former First Northwest Bank and Village Bank & Trust for years and had tremendous respect for them. As time went by, I spoke with people in the community and found out that many of my clients and friends were customers of the bank. The bank’s reputation in the community cemented in my mind that I had to be part of this story–so here I am!” state Kivlahan.
As a member of the Board, I hope to increase the bank’s exposure and visibility to my clients and to the groups that I belong to. I also want to reinforce the bank’s community focus.”
Village Bank & Trust is very honored to have Tom as part of our official family and congratulate him on a very deserving win!
